Alicia + Bryan Engagement
Believe it or not, Pittsburgh struggled to give us snow this winter. We got some here and there, but overall we didn’t see a whole lot of white.
When Alicia and I were talking about engagement photos for her and Bryan, she had mentioned wanting to have some beautiful, crisp, winter-y shots. You can never predict the weather, and she knew that, and was so graceful about understanding that if it doesn’t happen, we adjust. But what a magical idea! Their pup, Opie, was going to join us on our outing as well, and what is more fun than a happy dog playing in the snow!
Alicia and Bryan are so flexible and relaxed. The first time we were supposed to meet up, I got lost on the way in three different ways. I made it to the right cafe, but on the other side of the city! It was so embarrassing. But they were so kind about it, I didn’t feel like a total fool!
We ended up shooting on Valentine’s Day! It was the last for-seeable decent snowfall we were expected to see, and it was kind of perfect. It’s like there was extra togetherness in the air.
They were really fun. And so good with direction! And when I said, “ok, just be you!”, they looked at each other for a second and wondered what that meant to them, and then down Alicia went, crashing into the snow at the hands on her fiancee, resulting in a snowball fight!
I am so excited and honored to be with them on their wedding day. Sometimes, you just don’t know how you’ll work with a couple. Maybe they’ll be very particular and critical, or they’ll speak in an artistic way you don’t totally understand. But Alicia and Bryan are “my” couple. They’re my people. That’s such a blessing for me. I love that they found each other, and then found me to help them tell their stories!
