Introducing Scarlett
It’s interesting how you make connections with people. I met Jenna through craigslist when I was looking for some materials to build a set. We got to talking about our work in artistry. Jenna and Jeremy build new stuff out of old stuff!
Their business is called Reclaimed Things. They go out on hunts to find cool old wood to sand down and sprinkle magic dust and it turns into something amazing. I’ve seen their products first hand! Much of their own furniture they built themselves.
It wasn’t too long before we scheduled a photoshoot for tiny Scarlett, who was getting ready to be introduced to the world. I was thrilled when Jenna asked for a lifestyle shoot in lieu of something more formal like a portrait session. I still set up some shots, but lifestyles shoots are very natural and fluid. I’m just there to help tell the story. Jenna and Jeremy had done this once before with their son just a couple years earlier, so they settled in right away. It’s great to see a family focused on family.
This is the coolest part of my job. I get a pass to see things first. The bride in her elaborate wedding dress, the reception room in all of its flowery glory, and the new tiny, squishy, 9 day young life of a little girl. Only close family members get that kind of privilege. I know I’ve talked about this before, but it’s still such an honor and gives me chills when I remember that I have been given the right, even for a short time, to be closer than family. And when you get the right people, it really feels like it.
Welcome to the family, Scarlett.
